The summer home-buying season is certainly a busy one, with many families with children wanting to be settled in their new homes before school starts. But there is plenty of home-buying activity in autumn as well. It’s the second-busiest home-buying season of the year.

Thinking about trying to sell your home this autumn? Here are some tips from the National Association of Realtors:

Watch your curb appeal. Make sure your yard is clean and tidy. Have trees that lose their leaves? Plants that go dormant in the fall? Keep up with raking and ensure all walkways are free of leaves and debris. Can’t keep up with fall lawn and home maintenance? Consider hiring someone to keep up with it for you while your home is on the market.
Clean out your gutters, ensuring they are free from debris and draining properly.
Tidy up your patio. Clean your patio furniture and arrange or store them nicely, keeping any view from the interior in mind.
Keep it bright. Open blinds and curtains so plenty of natural light illuminates the home’s interior. Nothing sells a home like abundant natural light flooding into a room from clean windows.
Keep the temperature comfortable. Are the nights getting chilly? Don’t delay turning on the heat. Cold homes don’t show as well as homes kept at comfortable temperatures.
Don’t go crazy with the Halloween decor. A few pumpkins by the front door or a fall wreath can add a festive touch to your home. Stash any macabre Halloween decorations away for next year.
